Yogyakarta, January 9, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) officially inaugurated Prof. Dr. apt. Chairun Wiedyaningsih, M.Kes., M.App.Sc. as a Professor in the field of Pharmaceutical Policy. The inauguration ceremony took place at the UGM Senate Hall, attended by distinguished academics, professors, family members, and colleagues of Prof. Chairun. This milestone marks a significant achievement in advancing pharmaceutical education and research in Indonesia.
In her inaugural address, titled “The Strategic Role of Pharmacists in Strengthening Policies for the Safety of Drug Distribution and Use in Society,” Prof. Chairun delivered an insightful discussion on the critical importance of reinforcing policies governing drug distribution and use in Indonesia. She emphasized that such measures are essential to creating a healthcare system that is safe, effective, and equitable.
Prof. Chairun’s speech also highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in enhancing the safety of drug distribution and usage within communities. She elaborated on the current regulations surrounding drug safety, the challenges in ensuring secure distribution and usage processes, and the necessary steps to address these issues effectively.
The inauguration of Prof. Chairun as a Professor not only contributes to the advancement of pharmaceutical science but also strengthens the Faculty of Pharmacy’s role in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As an educational institution, the Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM is committed to producing research and policies that drive improvements in healthcare systems and promote equitable well-being across Indonesia, aligning with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
