Yogyakarta – June 12, 2025 – Nisa Fredlina Mahardika Saputri, a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has demonstrated remarkable multidisciplinary talent by winning two prestigious awards in two different fields: health administration and environmental graphic design. This dual achievement was accomplished in separate competitions held in May 2025.
Her first success was winning 2nd Place in the National Poster Competition at the “Hospital Administration Competition 2025,” hosted by Universitas Kusuma Husada Surakarta on May 5, 2025. With the theme “Peran Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam Meningkatkan Efisiensi dan Efektivitas Administrasi Rumah Sakit,” Nisa’s work was praised for presenting relevant, practical, and applicable AI-based solutions to address modern administrative challenges in the healthcare sector.
Building on this success, Nisa also made her mark on the global stage by winning 1st Place in the International Graphic Design Competition 2025 on May 19, 2025. The competition, organized by UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Digital, featured the theme “Let’s Reduce Waste on Our Blue Planet!” Her infographic was judged to be superior for its creativity, visual clarity, and the powerful message it conveyed in advocating for environmental awareness, specifically waste reduction to protect the planet’s ecosystems.
Although from different domains, both achievements harmoniously reflect a deep commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her work on AI in hospitals directly supports Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) by promoting the modernization and efficiency of health infrastructure. Such innovations are a crucial foundation for achieving Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), where an effective healthcare system can provide better services to the community. On the other hand, her victory in the international design competition underscores her role as an agent of change for Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12). Through the power of visual design, she successfully campaigned for tangible action on waste reduction, an essential step in protecting life on land and below water.
“I am very grateful and didn’t expect to win both of these awards. For me, pharmacy, technology, and design are complementary fields. We can use technological innovations like AI to improve health systems, and at the same time, use the power of visual design to educate the public on important issues like the environment,” said Nisa. “I hope to continue learning and integrating different fields of knowledge to create a broader impact.”
The dual achievements of Nisa Fredlina Mahardika Saputri are proof that UGM Pharmacy students not only excel in the pharmaceutical sciences but are also able to adapt, innovate, and contribute creatively to address global challenges.
