Yogyakarta, January 1, 2026 — Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada actively participated in the UGM Anti-Drug Ambassador Selection 2025/2026, organized by the Raja Garuda Community of UGM. This annual program serves as a preventive and educational initiative to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other addictive substances (NAPZA), particularly within the university environment.
The participation of Faculty of Pharmacy students reflects a strong commitment to their future role as healthcare professionals and agents of change in promoting public health. With their academic background in pharmacy, participants are expected to contribute scientific perspectives and innovative solutions to prevent substance abuse among university students.
The selection process consisted of several stages, including administrative screening, essay submission, interviews, and the final round. In the initial stage, participants submitted application documents along with essays presenting ideas or innovations related to preventing NAPZA abuse among students. Selected candidates then proceeded to interviews and written tests designed to assess their communication skills, knowledge, and personal qualities.
The final stage was conducted offline within the university environment and included program presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and direct evaluation by a panel of judges comprising academics, healthcare practitioners, and representatives from relevant organizations. During this stage, finalists demonstrated their ability to articulate ideas and their commitment to becoming impactful change agents within the campus community.
Through this program, it is expected that the selected UGM Anti-Drug Ambassadors 2025/2026 from the Faculty of Pharmacy will not only excel academically but also possess strong social awareness and serve as role models in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among students and the wider community.
In conclusion, this initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through efforts to prevent substance abuse, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing health literacy and awareness among students, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between students, academics, and organizations in fostering a healthy and drug-free campus environment.
