Pharmacy UGM – On Tuesday (February 25), the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM successfully held an Academic Writing Workshop: Techniques and Methods of Meta-Analysis, which took place at the Workshop Room Unit IX, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The event was attended by students from the 2024 batch of the Graduate Program, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
The workshop aimed to provide a deep understanding of the techniques and methods of meta-analysis in academic writing. The meta-analysis method is becoming increasingly important as a systematic approach to combining results from various previous studies to draw more comprehensive and robust conclusions. Meta-analysis allows researchers to evaluate trends and patterns in published data, providing significant contributions to evidence-based decision-making.
Prof. Dr. apt. Abdul Rohman, M.Si was the keynote speaker for this workshop. During an enthusiastic session with the participants, he outlined the key steps in applying meta-analysis methods, from selecting relevant studies, and gathering data, to effectively analyzing and concluding research findings.
This meta-analysis scientific writing workshop was organized in response to the academic need to enhance research capacity, particularly in fields that require synthesizing data from various sources. Moreover, this workshop also aims to improve the quality of scientific publications in reputable journals, as meta-analysis is often a highly valued approach in the academic community. Thus, this activity is expected to contribute to enhancing the quality of research and encouraging collaboration among researchers across various disciplines.
The workshop also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by improving academic research capacity, and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through strengthening evidence-based health research. In addition, this activity promotes SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by strengthening the capacity for innovative research. (Rara/HumasFA)
