Yogyakarta, June 1, 2026 – In an effort to prepare responsive and solution-oriented students for community service, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the “Pharmaceutical Briefing for UGM KKN-PPM Students” on Monday, June 1, 2026. The event, which commenced at 08:00 AM, featured a lineup of prominent experts and academicians, including Prof. Dr.rer.nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si.,; Prof. Dr. apt. Ika Puspita Sari, M.Si.; Dr. Djoko Santosa, S.Si., M.Si.; and Dr. apt. Nindya Kusumorini, S.Farm. This briefing was meticulously designed to provide students with a solid foundation, ensuring that their upcoming community programs are effective, measurable, and highly impactful.

The briefing comprehensively covered various essential topics, ranging from basic pharmaceutical knowledge in rural settings, interactive sharing and Q&A sessions regarding KKN dynamics, to administrative aspects such as the technical guidelines for filling out digital logbooks via the Simaster platform. Moving beyond mere theory, students participated in a hands-on demonstration focusing on herbal product packaging techniques. The practical session specifically highlighted the filling and sealing stages of Moringa leaf powder and dried herbs into ready-to-brew teabags hygienically. Through this packaging innovation, students are expected to educate local communities on product standardization and the utilization of family medicinal plants (TOGA) to achieve higher economic value.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing relevant, practical learning spaces for students prior to their community deployment. Furthermore, the herbal processing skills taught contribute directly to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the promotion of herbal-based healthcare, as well as SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by training communities to utilize local natural resources sustainably. This briefing is expected to foster future agents of change who are ready to advance public health and welfare based on local wisdom across Indonesia.
