UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and University of Birmingham Discuss Opportunities for Research and Teaching Collaboration

Yogyakarta, May 20, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed an academic visit from Dr. Felix Chan, Assistant Professor in Pharmacology at the School of Pharmacy, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, for a discussion on potential research and teaching collaborations. The meeting was held on Wednesday (20/5) at the Leadership Meeting Room (RSP), 7th Floor, APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.

This activity marked an important milestone in strengthening the international network of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, particularly in the fields of education and research. The discussion was conducted in a warm and productive atmosphere, exploring various potential collaborations between the two institutions, including joint research development, academic exchanges, scientific publication collaborations, as well as opportunities to strengthen teaching and learning activities in the field of pharmacy.

During the meeting, both parties also discussed the possibility of developing collaborations that could provide broad impacts on the academic capacity development of both students and lecturers. The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM warmly welcomed this collaboration opportunity as part of its efforts toward faculty internationalization and the enhancement of globally oriented higher education quality.

The presence of Dr. Felix Chan is expected to open opportunities for more concrete collaborations in the future, both through multidisciplinary research activities and academic programs that support innovation development in the fields of health and pharmacy.

This activity is also aligned with the commitment of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education through strengthening international educational collaboration; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the development of pharmaceutical research and innovation; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through building global partnerships that support the advancement of science and higher education.
