Yogyakarta, May 11, 2026 — Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), have once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. A team consisting of Neyla Ikhsyaniyah Balqis, Azzahra Aurelya Saraswati P., and Afifah Nabila won the Sustainable Essay Competition at PALIAFEST, organized by Universitas Brawijaya Hospital (RS UB). The award-winning essay, titled “NutriTrack: An Integrated Artificial Intelligence Platform for Monitoring MBG Nutrition, Glycemic Control, and Computer Vision-Based Dietary Management as an Interdisciplinary Collaboration Solution for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals,” presented an innovative approach to improving nutrition management through digital technology.
Through NutriTrack, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy team proposed an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based platform integrated with Computer Vision technology to support nutritional status monitoring, glycemic control, and dietary management effectively and comprehensively. The platform is designed to facilitate nutrition fulfillment programs by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration within Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).
The proposed system is capable of automatically identifying food items and estimating their nutritional content. This innovation is expected to improve the efficiency of nutritional monitoring while assisting healthcare professionals in making faster and more informed decisions regarding nutritional interventions for the community.
The team’s success demonstrates how the integration of pharmaceutical sciences, digital technology, and artificial intelligence can generate innovative solutions to address contemporary healthcare challenges. Beyond offering a novel approach to nutrition management, the project highlights the significant potential of digital technologies to enhance healthcare services in Indonesia.
This achievement also reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through innovations that support improved community nutrition, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the development of technologies that enhance healthcare services, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by leveraging AI and digital technologies to drive innovation in pharmacy and healthcare.
