Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Receives Academic Visit from Pharmacy Students from Rajawali Health Institute

Yogyakarta, June 23, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed an academic visit from 96 undergraduate pharmacy students from Institut Kesehatan (IKes) Rajawali, accompanied by four faculty members as part of an Independent Study Program under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative. The visit was designed to provide students with experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom while broadening their understanding of pharmaceutical education, research, and professional development.

The program began with a presentation introducing the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM by  apt. Purwanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., presented the academic programs, student activities, research initiatives, learning facilities, and contributions to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences. Through this session, participants gained valuable insights into the faculty’s academic environment and the various opportunities available for personal and professional growth.

Following the presentation, the students participated in a guided laboratory tour led by faculty representatives. During the tour, participants explored several teaching and research laboratories, allowing them to gain firsthand exposure to the facilities used for practical training, scientific research, and pharmaceutical innovation. The experience provided students with a deeper understanding of how pharmaceutical knowledge is applied in both academic and research settings.

The academic visit served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between higher education institutions. By engaging directly with UGM’s academic and research environment, students were able to broaden their perspectives on pharmaceutical sciences, strengthen their academic motivation, and gain greater awareness of future educational and career opportunities within the healthcare sector.

This activity also contributes to the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing students with access to high-quality, experience-based learning opportunities beyond their home institution. The exposure to pharmaceutical education and research facilities contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by strengthening the competencies of future healthcare professionals. Furthermore, the collaboration between universities promotes SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic networking, knowledge sharing, and institutional cooperation. The introduction to research facilities and pharmaceutical innovation also aligns with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by fostering scientific advancement and encouraging innovation in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences.
