Yogyakarta, May 10, 2026 — Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the 2026 National Pharmaceutical Hackathon organized by the ISPE DIY–Central Java Student Chapter in a hybrid format. The competition brought together students, practitioners, and academics from various universities across Indonesia to collaboratively develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges in the pharmaceutical industry.
In the competition, Team 2 from Universitas Gadjah Mada successfully earned two prestigious awards, namely Winner Team and Most Valuable Presenter. The team consisted of Tahilani (25/3201A15159), Azzahra Aurelya Saraswati Pramono (24/533523/FA/14353), and Maghfira Mecca Audriana (24/533006/FA/14346). In this competition, Team 2 introduced Medihorison Vision 2035, an innovative strategy aimed at transforming the pharmaceutical industry into a global leader in sterile pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. The proposed solution focused on the utilization of advanced technology and digitalization to address increasingly competitive global pharmaceutical industry challenges.
Several key innovations proposed by the team included the implementation of Electronic Batch Record (EBR) systems to improve efficiency and compliance with global standards, the utilization of toll manufacturing as a flexible strategy to meet market demands, the development of biotechnology products such as trastuzumab for cancer therapy, optimization of production lines through debottlenecking and AI-based predictive maintenance automation, and the formulation of the Vision 2035 roadmap to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s pharmaceutical industry at the international level.
This achievement reflects the dedication, creativity, and collaborative capabilities of UGM Faculty of Pharmacy students in delivering practical and future-oriented solutions. The accomplishment is also expected to inspire other students to continue innovating and contributing to the development of both national and global pharmaceutical industries.
This achievement is aligned with the commitment of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening student competencies, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of technology-based innovation in the pharmaceutical field, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among students, academics, and industry practitioners in creating impactful solutions for society.
