Indonesian Journal of Pharmacy Hosts Visit from Althea Medical Journal, Strengthening Collaboration in Enhancing Scientific Publication Quality

Yogyakarta, April 23, 2026 – The Indonesian Journal of Pharmacy (IJP) from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, welcomed a visit from Althea Medical Journal at Unit IX, 1st Floor, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The meeting brought together the editorial teams of both journals and marked an important step in strengthening collaboration among scientific journal managers in Indonesia.

The discussion covered a range of strategic aspects in journal management, including editorial strategies to improve article quality such as manuscript selection, scope determination, and acceptance rate management. In addition, the session highlighted the optimization of peer-review performance to ensure high-quality publications, journal governance based on good governance principles, and citation enhancement strategies through improving key metrics such as CiteScore, SJR, and SNIP. Both parties also explored strategies for internationalization by diversifying authors, editors, and reviewers, as well as optimizing journal Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to increase global visibility.

Dr. Marlyn Dian Laksitorini, Editor-in-Chief of the Indonesian Journal of Pharmacy, stated in her remarks that the visit represents a strategic effort to build a high-quality and globally competitive scientific publication ecosystem. She emphasized the importance of collaboration among journals to exchange best practices in journal management and development.

Similarly, Prof. Edhyana K. Sahiratmadja, Editor-in-Chief of Althea Medical Journal, expressed his hope that the meeting would provide valuable insights that could be implemented in managing Althea Medical Journal, particularly in improving article quality and enhancing the journal’s international competitiveness.

This activity also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the enhancement of research-based learning resources, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through strengthening knowledge infrastructure and innovation in health and pharmacy, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through institutional collaboration in advancing high-quality and sustainable scientific publication standards.
