Faculty of Pharmacy Holds Seminar and Retirement Ceremony for Dr. apt. Hari Purnomo, M.S.

Yogyakarta, August 26, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) held a Seminar and Retirement Ceremony to honor the long service of Dr. apt. Hari Purnomo, M.S., a lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry who has dedicated decades of his life to education, research, and the development of pharmaceutical science, particularly in the fields of Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design.

Retirement is not the end of contribution, but a moment of reflection and appreciation for the extraordinary dedication that has been given. In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si. emphasized, “Dr. Hari Purnomo’s dedication is not only recorded in scientific works, but also in the souls of the future generations he has guided.”

The event, held at the Auditorium of the APSLC Building, 8th floor, Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM, was divided into two sessions: a Scientific Seminar and a Retirement Ceremony.

The second session was a moment of tribute, beginning with remarks from faculty leaders, a farewell speech from Dr. Hari Purnomo, a video retrospective of his service, and the presentation of mementos. The event closed with a prayer, a group photo session, and a reception.

The event was attended by around 150 participants for the seminar session and 280 participants for the retirement ceremony, consisting of lecturers, educational staff, family, and colleagues of Dr. Hari Purnomo.

With this event, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM hopes that the spirit of dedication and integrity inherited by Dr. Hari Purnomo can continue to inspire the academic generation to continue their work and innovation in the field of pharmacy.

The Seminar and Retirement Ceremony for Dr. apt. Hari Purnomo, M.S. is in line with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through strengthening knowledge about the design and discovery of new drugs to support national drug independence, which has an impact on improving public health. In addition, this activity supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing a space for knowledge sharing between academics across generations, thereby enriching insight and competence in the field of pharmacy. Furthermore, this event also reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration between academics, colleagues, and partners to jointly encourage the development of science and innovation for sustainable development.
