Silver Reunion of UGM Pharmacy Alumni Class of 2000: Rekindling Connections, Reinforcing Contributions

Yogyakarta, June 28–29, 2025 A total of 89 alumni from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Class of 2000, along with their families, gathered for the 25th Silver Reunion held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the UGM Pharmacy Campus and UC Hotel UGM Ballroom. This reunion marked an important moment to rekindle connections after two and a half decades, rebuild professional networks, and reminisce about the unforgettable memories of their university days.

The event was designed primarily to strengthen emotional and professional ties among alumni while also reestablishing the bond between alumni and Pharmacy UGM. Beyond reconnecting friendships, the reunion served as a platform to forge beneficial connections across various areas of life, from careers and business to social and academic realms. It also offered a moment of remembrance and tribute to the lecturers, staff, and families of alumni who have passed away, in honor of their contributions.

The event began with registration and a photo session, followed by opening remarks from the Chair of the Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. One of the most heartfelt moments was the presentation of a special memento to the family of the late pharmacist Naning, who was remembered for her contributions to the field of pharmacy. The event then continued with a scientific discussion titled “Preparing for Healthy Aging” featuring Dr. Probosuseno, SpPD, KGer, Finasim, SE, MM, AIFO-K as the keynote speaker, moderated by Prof. Hesty Utami.

After the academic session, alumni gathered for a group photo around the campus and the surrounding UGM area—a symbolic act of unity and nostalgia. In the evening, the event continued at the UC Hotel UGM Ballroom. The night activities included video screenings, a class yearbook reading, light exercise sessions, performances by alumni groups, and a closing session that marked the end of a memorable day.

The reunion was attended by several prominent alumni now holding important positions in their respective fields, including Prof. Hesty Utami, Professor at Universitas Pancasila; Roy Himawan, Director of Primary Health Services at Indonesia’s Ministry of Health; and Dr. Binar Kurniawan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Their presence stands as a testament to the real contributions of UGM Pharmacy alumni in advancing the national health sector.

From Pharmacy UCM’s perspective, the event served as a strategic opportunity to strengthen long-term relationships with alumni as partners in various faculty development initiatives. The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM also showcased through this event the pivotal role its alumni play in enhancing the institution’s reputation, both nationally and internationally.

The alumni responded enthusiastically to the reunion. Some entrepreneur alumni reported increased sales from merchandise during the event. Meanwhile, those active in the pharmaceutical and health sectors expressed hope that such events could be held regularly as a space for knowledge exchange and professional networking.

This Silver Reunion also reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals). Through collaboration between alumni and Pharmacy UGM, this event not only rekindled relationships but also served as a means to enhance the role of alumni in advancing education, improving quality of life, boosting the health and entrepreneurship sectors, and building networks for shared progress.
