YOGYAKARTA – May 19, 2025 – A team of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has achieved a major international victory, securing 1st Place in the prestigious pharmacy competition, RxTournament 2025. The final round of the tournament, hosted online by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), took place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, drawing participants from pharmacy schools across the globe.
Competing in the Advanced Level category, the UGM team was represented by five students: Daffa Yafindalisti El Gamal, Muhammad Didan Fahrezi, Dzaki Hasan Nasrullah, Dini Maharani, and Novia Permata Hapsari. They successfully outperformed strong teams from other nations, including the team from MyPSA, Malaysia, which won 2nd place, and the team from HMF ‘AF’ ITB, Indonesia, which finished in 3rd place.
RxTournament 2025 is designed to sharpen the comprehensive skills of pharmacy students, covering everything from clinical and industrial knowledge to pharmaceutical problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. The victory, based on rigorous judging criteria of professionalism and pharmaceutical ethics, stands as proof of globally recognized competence.
This win is more than just academic recognition; it also highlights a tangible contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The clinical and communication skills tested in the tournament are fundamental to achieving Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), ensuring that future pharmacists can provide safe, effective, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care. The achievement also serves as a benchmark for the Quality Education (SDG 4) provided at UGM’s Faculty of Pharmacy, which prepares students to compete and address health challenges on a global scale. Furthermore, the IPSF-hosted event reflects the spirit of Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), where students from different countries collaborate and compete constructively to raise the standards of the pharmacy profession worldwide.
Team member Daffa Yafindalisti El Gamal expressed his gratitude, “We are incredibly proud and grateful to bring the name of UGM and Indonesia to the top.
