Pharmacy UGM – (11/06) The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) along with a delegation of researchers was invited to participate in the 4th ASEAN PharmNET 2024 Conference. This event, held in conjunction with the 2024 US-Thai Pharmacy Education Consortium Meeting: 30th Anniversary Commemoration, was hosted by Mahidol University in Thailand. As part of the activities, the ASEAN-US Dean/Representatives Meeting was conducted as a pre-conference session. Prof. Dr. Apt. Satibi, M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM, attended as a representative of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia.
The meeting aimed to provide a unique platform for participants to meet and familiarize themselves with their counterparts from different regions. This initial interaction was designed to lay the foundation for strong, enduring professional relationships. By connecting top minds in pharmacy education from diverse geographical areas, the meeting also aimed to create a robust network that would facilitate ongoing international collaboration. This network was envisioned to support joint academic and research initiatives, student and faculty exchange programs, and the sharing of best practices in pharmacy education and practice. Furthermore, this historic gathering marked a significant step forward in fostering international collaboration between ASEAN and the U.S., and advancing pharmaceutical education and research.
A key highlight of this pre-conference session was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the US-ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium on “The Advancement of Pharmacy Education, Research & Practice in ASEAN.” This agreement, was signed by the Consortium of National Organizations and Faculties/Colleges of Pharmacy in ASEAN—one of which is Universitas Gadjah Mada—and US Pharmacy Schools, will be in function from 2024 to 2034.
The 4th ASEAN PharmNET 2024 Conference, in conjunction with the 2024 US-Thai Pharmacy Education Consortium Meeting, is scheduled for June 12-14, 2024, at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference, hosted under the main theme “Global Collaboration in Pharmacy Education, Practice & Research: Bridging Borders for Health Innovation,” is organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Pharmacy Education Consortium of Thailand (PECT).
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goal number 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and goal number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through international collaboration and the improvement of education quality and sustainable pharmacy practices.
