UGM Faculty of Pharmacy Holds Training on Waste Management Using Digital Waste Scales

Yogyakarta, June 30, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a Training on Waste Management Using Digital Waste Scales on Tuesday (June 30) in Room 202 of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the academic community in implementing more systematic, accurate, and data-driven waste management practices through the use of digital technology.

The event was officially opened by Andrian Dion Priadi, S.Kom., Head of the Administrative Office of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of sustainable waste management as part of the faculty’s commitment to environmental stewardship. He emphasized that digital waste scales can support more effective recording and monitoring of waste volumes, providing reliable data to inform future waste management strategies.

Throughout the training, participants gained insights into sustainable waste management practices and received hands-on experience in operating digital waste scales for waste weighing and data recording. The adoption of this technology is expected to improve data accuracy, increase operational efficiency, and facilitate the evaluation of waste reduction initiatives within the Faculty of Pharmacy.

This training also contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting sustainable campus environmental management, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by encouraging responsible and data-driven waste management practices, and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by supporting efforts to reduce the environmental impact of waste. Through the integration of digital technology into waste monitoring and management, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirms its commitment to advancing sustainable development, beginning within the university environment.
