Yogyakarta, October 14, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has once again achieved an extraordinary milestone on the international stage. Two academics from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Prof. Dr. apt. Abdul Rohman, M.Si., and apt. Eka Noviana, Ph.D., has been named among the world’s most influential scientists in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2026” list.
This prestigious recognition is based on the Stanford-Elsevier Updated Science-Wide Author Databases, Version 9 (2026). The rankings are compiled rigorously by assessing scientists’ exact positions according to their primary fields of study, without including self-citations in the calculation.
Based on the data released, Prof. Abdul ranked first at UGM in two categories simultaneously. The first category was “Career-long impact up to 2025,” in which he ranked 345th out of a total of 107,928 scientists, which placed him in the top 0.32% globally in the field of Food Science. In addition, Prof. Abdul’s achievements also extended to the “Single-year 2025 impact” category, where he ranked 216th out of 107,914 scientists, placing him in the top 0.20% in the same field.
This outstanding achievement was also attained by apt. Eka Noviana, Ph.D., who successfully made it onto the list of the top 19 UGM scientists in the “Single-year 2025 impact” category in the field of Analytical Chemistry, ranking 1,810th out of a total of 137,328 scientists, placing her among the top 1.32% of the world’s leading scientists.
This achievement on the international stage is certainly a tangible demonstration of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, where students are directly mentored by educators and researchers who are globally recognized for the quality of their world-class research.
The high number of citations of scientific works in the fields of food science and analytical chemistry also reflects support for SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. The innovations and research publications of Prof. Abdul and apt. Eka has proven to provide crucial references for technological advancement and the development of pharmaceutical science worldwide.
