Advancing Global Collaboration: UGM and UCMI Malaysia Discuss Strategies for Building a World-Class Pharmacy Program

Yogyakarta, April 30, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted a seminar titled Integration of Pharmaceutical Education, Research, and Technology: Strategies for Building a World-Class Pharmacy Program in collaboration with University College of MAIWP International (UCMI) Malaysia. This seminar was part of the One Day Short Course on Humanity Leadership Beyond Boundaries with UCMI Malaysia 2025, aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration in pharmacy higher education.

Held in Workshop Room 304, Unit IX, the seminar featured Mohammad Nasrin bin Abdul Rohman from the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology UCMI as the keynote speaker. His presentation emphasized the critical need to integrate education, research, and technology as foundational pillars for developing pharmacy programs that are not only academically excellent but also responsive to scientific advancements and global industry demands.

The seminar served as a reflective and forward-thinking platform for the academic community to develop collaborative and innovative learning strategies. Mohammad Nasrin highlighted the importance of synergy between educational institutions and the industrial sector, as well as the transformative role of advanced technology in enhancing the learning process and generating impactful research outcomes.

Beyond being a scientific forum, this event reinforced the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It directly contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). By embracing the spirit of global collaboration and strengthening institutional capacity, this initiative represents a strategic response to the challenges of higher education in the era of digital transformation and the health industry revolution.
