Yogyakarta, September 29, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with PT Maja Bintang Indonesia, hosted a webinar titled “Exploring Advanced Cell Imaging and Counting Technologies for Modern Research” on Tuesday (29/9). Held online via Zoom Meeting, the webinar discussed advances in cell imaging and cell counting technologies to support pharmaceutical research and product development. The event provided a platform for academics and industry practitioners to share insights into the development and application of these technologies in modern research.
The webinar featured Drh. Retno Murwanti, M.P., Ph.D., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Apt. Silvy Wahyudy, S.Farm., M.Biomed., Live Science Product Specialist at PT Maja Bintang Indonesia, as speakers. The two speakers presented academic and industry perspectives on advances in cell imaging and counting technologies and their relevance to research needs. The collaboration brought together academic expertise and practical industry insights to discuss the application of these technologies in research activities.
Cell imaging and cell counting technologies play an important role in various types of research that require more measurable observation, identification, and counting of cells. As technology continues to advance, various devices and analytical methods are being developed to help researchers obtain data to support the research process. Their applications can contribute to various stages of research, including studies in pharmaceutical research and product development.
Through presentations and discussions, participants had the opportunity to learn about advances in cell imaging and counting technologies and their applications in research contexts. The perspectives shared by academic and industry speakers provided an overview of research needs as well as developments in available technological solutions. The interaction between these perspectives also created opportunities for knowledge exchange on the challenges and potential applications of these technologies in research.
The collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and PT Maja Bintang Indonesia represents a form of synergy between higher education and industry in supporting the development of knowledge and innovation in the pharmaceutical field. The webinar supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening participants’ knowledge and capacity to understand advances in research technologies, as well as SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the introduction and application of technological innovations to support research and product development. The collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and PT Maja Bintang Indonesia also contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and industry.
