Yogyakarta, October 30, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) collaborated with the Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies (CESASS) at UGM to facilitate the CESASS IUP Global Gateway (CIGG) 2026 program. The Faculty of Pharmacy officially hosted this academic visit on Friday (10/30) at the Auditorium on the 8th floor of the APSLC Building.

The CIGG 2026 Program is an experiential learning initiative specifically designed for high school students (grades 10–12) from Indonesia and various countries in the Southeast Asian region. Approximately 47 participating students took part in this visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy, accompanied by 2 faculty members, 2 support staff, and 4 student volunteers. The main objective of this program is to provide a firsthand experience of the academic environment while introducing prospective students to the opportunities offered by UGM’s International Undergraduate Program (IUP).

The academic session at the Faculty of Pharmacy was a comprehensive two-hour program, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. WIB. The event began with opening remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Then, followed by a presentation on a thematic topic in the field of pharmacy delivered by UGM lecturer and pharmacy expert, apt. Setyowati Triastuti Utami, M.Sc., Ph.D. After gaining an in-depth understanding of the science of pharmacy, participants received a detailed briefing on the Pharmacy IUP Program structure, led by the IUP Unit Coordinator.

The visit concluded with a facility tour, or “Faculty Tour.” Led by Dr. apt. Adhyatmika, M.Biotech., Coordinator of the IUP Program at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, the students were taken on a tour of the faculty campus to observe firsthand the various academic facilities and laboratories available. For your information, the Faculty of Pharmacy is one of nine faculties at UGM offering international classes that are part of the CIGG 2026 program. After completing the series of events in Yogyakarta, participants are scheduled to continue their international academic visit to several leading universities in Malaysia and Singapore.

The active involvement of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy in ensuring the success of the CIGG 2026 program is a strong demonstration of the institution’s commitment to accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Providing presentations and access to information about international-standard higher education to high school students directly contributes to SDG 4 on Quality Education.

On the other hand, the synergy between PSSAT, the nine faculties at UGM, and students from across Southeast Asia underscores concrete efforts to realize SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. These cross-sectoral and multinational partnerships serve as a key catalyst in bridging the gap in global access to education and fostering a new generation with an international perspective.
