UGM Pharmacy NanaHeal Team Wins First Place in the 2025 Saintek Expo National Essay Competition

Yogyakarta, September 6, 2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The NanaHeal Team, consisting of Yustisia Nur Rafidha Hestomo Putri (chairperson), Faqih Fikri Nuryanto, and Novia Rahmadhani Azizah, successfully won first place in the National Essay Competition at the 2025 Science and Technology Expo organized by the Science and Technology Student Association (UKM-U) of the University of Lampung.

By promoting transdermal patches made from jackfruit seed and dragon fruit peel extracts as a treatment for diabetic ulcers, the NanaHeal Team presents a creative solution that combines the use of natural resources with a modern pharmaceutical approach. This idea is considered capable of making a real contribution to the development of health innovations while supporting environmental sustainability.

This achievement is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through innovation in chronic disease therapy, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through the use of research-based pharmaceutical technology, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through the sustainable optimization of natural resources.

This success is clear evidence that UGM Pharmacy students not only excel academically, but also play an active role in presenting innovative ideas that support public health and sustainable development in Indonesia.
