Yogyakarta, March 30, 2025 -Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have once again achieved international recognition. The team, consisting of Jennifer, Chelsea Angelica, and Dzaki Hasan Nasrullah, secured first place in the Poster Competition, part of the Patient Counselling Event (PCE) Month 2025 organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF).
Held from March 2 to 30, 2025, the competition carried the theme “Cultural Connections: Patient Counselling Across Borders.” Participants were challenged to design posters illustrating how cultural diversity influences pharmacy practice, particularly in patient counselling. UGM’s team impressed the judges with a poster that not only emphasized the importance of cultural competence but also showcased powerful visuals infused with local cultural identity.
This victory reflects the mindset of UGM’s pharmacy students in recognizing the critical role of cultural competence in healthcare services. Their participation in this international event not only strengthens the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s presence on the global stage but also serves as an inspiration for other students to actively engage in international professional activities.
The achievement also demonstrates a strong commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By addressing the theme of “Cultural Connections,” the team directly contributes to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by promoting understanding and respect for cultural diversity in healthcare, ensuring that all patients receive equitable treatment. Furthermore, the team’s gender-diverse composition and participation in an international competition embody SDG 5 (Gender Equality), affirming that everyone has equal opportunities to excel. Finally, engaging in initiatives that foster cross-cultural understanding also supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), as it builds meaningful relationships among students from different countries and strengthens the role of educational institutions as agents of global peace.
