UGM Faculty of Pharmacy Hosts Visiting Professor from France to Strengthen Academic Discussions and Stable Isotope Research

Yogyakarta, October 26, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), is hosting Prof. Illa Tea from the Institut des Sciences Analytiques (ISA) Lyon, France, for a visiting professor program taking place from October 24 to 31, 2026. The visit provides an opportunity for the academic community of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to deepen its understanding of stable isotopes, exchange scientific perspectives, and explore opportunities for research collaboration and academic mobility between the two institutions.

Prof. Illa Tea is a professor specializing in analytical chemistry, particularly stable isotope analysis. ISA Lyon is a research institute affiliated with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, and École normale supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon). The visit is part of the PHC Nusantara program, which supports academic and research collaboration between Indonesia and France.

A key component of the program is a series of academic and research discussions involving Prof. Illa Tea, her research team, and members of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. These discussions provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and scientific perspectives on stable isotope research while strengthening an ongoing research collaboration established during 2025–2026. ISA Lyon has also contributed to the research through in-kind support. The collaboration is expected to produce at least two journal articles, reflecting the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing scientific research.

As part of the visiting professor program, Prof. Illa Tea is scheduled to deliver a guest lecture entitled “Introduction to Fluxomics” on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The lecture will introduce students, lecturers, and researchers to the fundamental concepts of fluxomics and broaden their understanding of analytical approaches in scientific research. Through this academic session, participants are expected to gain new perspectives and insights that can inform future research and developments in pharmaceutical sciences.

In addition to the research discussions and guest lecture, the visit includes further academic exchanges and explorations of potential partnerships between the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM and ISA Lyon. These activities are intended to establish a foundation for long-term scientific collaboration, including opportunities for student and researcher mobility. A reciprocal visit to ISA Lyon is also planned for 2026, with support from the PHC Nusantara program and ISA Lyon.

The visiting professor program reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to strengthening the quality of higher education and research through international academic partnerships. The initiative also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education through knowledge exchange and academic capacity building; SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through research development; and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through international scientific collaboration.
