Yogyakarta, 18 May 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), participated in the prestigious Indonesia Cosmetics Ingredients (ICI) exhibition held at JIExpo, Jakarta recently. The faculty’s presence at this international forum served as a strategic momentum to showcase its latest scientific breakthroughs through a presentation titled “Current Innovations in Cosmetic Research at Faculty of Pharmacy-UGM”, while successfully strengthening its global partnership network.
As a premier gathering hub for industry stakeholders, raw material suppliers, and cosmetic developers, the ICI event provided a platform for the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to share research outcomes and exchange experiences regarding cosmetic development challenges in Indonesia. This active engagement is driven by the fact that cosmetics is a core branch of pharmaceutical science currently experiencing rapid market booms. This step also marks a concrete effort by the faculty to continuously accelerate cosmetic research, which is recognized as an area with substantial room for growth, primarily achieved through strategic alliances with industrial partners and other universities.
To support a competitive research ecosystem, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM has reinforced its facilities by establishing an integrated cosmetics laboratory. This facility is fully equipped with advanced supporting instruments for both product formulation and comprehensive analysis, alongside dedicated animal facilities to strictly ensure product safety testing. This infrastructural readiness underscores that the commercialization and downstream processing of cosmetic research from campus to market is well-prepared for optimal execution.
Through this participation, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM solidifies its dedication to achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education) by expanding experiential learning opportunities, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering local cosmetic innovations, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by building a strong collaborative ecosystem between academia and the national cosmetics industry.
