UGM Pharmacy Student Wins First Place at Pharmalearn Competition 2026

Yogyakarta, September 9, 2026 – Ramelgia Yasmina Rulla, a student in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), won first place nationally in the 2026 Pharmalearn Competition, organized by the Pharmacy Scientific Study Student Organization at Poltekkes Surakarta in September 2026. With the theme “Pharmacy 5.0: Shaping the Future of Digital Healthcare,” this competition served as a platform for pharmacy students in Indonesia to develop ideas, creativity, and innovation in response to technological advancements in the healthcare sector.

The 2026 Pharmalearn Competition attracted hundreds of participants from more than 30 universities in Indonesia, including the University of Indonesia, Udayana University, and Airlangga University. The competition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their academic abilities while developing innovative solutions to various challenges in the fields of pharmacy and healthcare.

In the competition, Ramelgia won first place with a project titled “MEDISYNC: AI-SATUSEHAT-Based Intelligent Medication Reconciliation to Detect and Resolve Medication Discrepancies During Healthcare Transitions.” This concept integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with the SATUSEHAT platform to help detect and resolve discrepancies in patient medication information during healthcare transitions. This innovation is expected to support safer and more coordinated medication management by identifying discrepancies in medication records when patients move from one healthcare facility to another.

Ramelgia’s achievement demonstrates the potential of pharmacy students to contribute to the development of digital health solutions. Through the integration of technology and pharmaceutical science, the MEDISYNC concept reflects an opportunity for future pharmacy professionals to play a role in improving medication safety and supporting the coordination of health care services. This innovation also highlights the importance of developing digital competencies among pharmacy students so they can respond to the increasingly complex challenges in health care.

These achievements also support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality, through recognition of women’s contributions in the fields of science and technology; SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, through the development of competencies and innovations relevant to the needs of the workforce in the digital age; and SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities, through the potential use of digital technology to support the continuity of medical information for patients across various healthcare facilities.

This accomplishment also demonstrates the commitment of UGM Pharmacy students to developing innovative ideas in line with the advancement of Pharmacy 5.0. Her achievement brings recognition to Universitas Gadjah Mada at the national level and underscores the importance of empowering future pharmacists to engage with emerging technologies and contribute to the transformation of healthcare in Indonesia.
