Yogyakarta, June 13, 2026 – Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) have once again achieved success on the international stage. A team of students from the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy won first place in the Compounding Event for Advanced Level category at the 2026 IPSF APRO Pharmaceutical Science Event, organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation Asia Pacific Regional Office (IPSF APRO). This achievement demonstrates the ability of UGM students to master and apply pharmaceutical science through a competition that brings together pharmacy students from various institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
The team that achieved this accomplishment consisted of Gabriella Kanya Sapto Putri, Anggit Wignya Adi Prasasti, Jennifer, and Hanindita Nafisa Sudiarso. These four students from the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy demonstrated their abilities and skills in the field of compounding through thorough preparation, teamwork, attention to detail, and the application of their pharmaceutical knowledge throughout the competition.
The IPSF APRO Pharmaceuticals Science Event 2026 is one of the events organized by the IPSF Asia Pacific Regional Office as a platform for pharmacy students to develop and test their knowledge and skills in the field of pharmacy. This event provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their academic and practical competencies, as well as to broaden their experience in a competitive environment at the Asia-Pacific regional level.
One of the competition series in this event was the Compounding Event for Advanced Level, a competition designed to hone participants’ advanced compounding skills. This competition integrates theoretical understanding with practical pharmaceutical skills, requiring participants to apply the knowledge they have learned carefully, systematically, and accurately. The ability to combine knowledge, technical skills, and coordination among team members is a crucial aspect in tackling the challenges of the competition.
In this category, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy team competed against participants from various pharmacy institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Through thorough preparation, mastery of the subject matter, precision in practice, and effective collaboration, the team secured first place. This success demonstrates that students at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy have the ability to apply their pharmaceutical knowledge and skills in an international competitive setting.
This achievement also serves as a form of recognition for the learning process and the development of students’ competencies in the field of pharmacy. Compounding skills are one of the key competencies in pharmacy education because they involve precision, an understanding of the characteristics of ingredients, and the ability to prepare pharmaceutical formulations in accordance with applicable principles and procedures. Mastery of these skills equips future pharmacy professionals to contribute to healthcare services that prioritize quality, safety, and patient needs.
The success of this team of students from the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy is a source of pride for Gadjah Mada University, particularly the Faculty of Pharmacy, and adds to the list of achievements by UGM students at the international level. It is hoped that this accomplishment will motivate other students to continue expanding their knowledge, developing practical skills, strengthening collaboration, and having the courage to seize opportunities to compete and excel at both the national and international levels.
This achievement is also in line with the commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by strengthening the competencies of prospective pharmacy professionals who play a role in supporting quality health care; SDG 4: Quality Education, through the development of students’ knowledge, practical skills, and competencies relevant to professional needs; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through participation in international forums that open opportunities for knowledge exchange and the strengthening of academic networks between countries. With these achievements, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy continues to promote the development of human resources in the pharmaceutical field who are outstanding, collaborative, and ready to contribute to the sustainable improvement of public health.
