Yogyakarta, August 5, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) hosted a Faculty Meet event, which was combined with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a strategic step toward strengthening international research collaboration. The event featured Prof. Nima Rezaei, MD, PhD, an expert in clinical immunology from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) in Iran and founder of the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN).
As an institution committed to improving the quality of research and global competitiveness, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy continues to encourage its academic community to enhance their capacity to produce internationally recognized scientific publications. However, challenges in conducting high-quality systematic reviews, writing scientific articles that meet international journal standards, and building global research collaboration networks remain a concern.
In addition to the academic sessions, this event served as an important milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that signifies a shared commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation between the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and its international partners. This collaboration is expected to serve as the foundation for joint research, collaborative publications, academic exchanges, and the expansion of international research networks.
Through this activity, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy aims to enhance faculty members’ and graduate students’ understanding of systematic review methodology and scientific writing; increase their motivation and capacity to publish research findings in reputable Q1 and Q2 international journals; and foster various forms of international research collaboration and publication.
This Faculty Meet and the signing of the MoU are part of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy’s ongoing efforts to expand its global academic network while strengthening its position as a higher education institution that contributes to the advancement of science through high-quality research and international collaboration. This initiative is also in line with Gadjah Mada University’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of academic and research capacity, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of research-based innovations, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the expansion of strategic collaborations with international partners in the fields of education, research, and academic exchange.
