Yogyakarta, August 5, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) once again reaffirmed its commitment to promoting international scientific collaboration and research capacity by hosting a guest lecture on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. This event took place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB in the Executive Meeting Room (RSP) on the 7th floor of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM.
With the main theme “Strategies for Writing High-Quality Systematic Reviews and Biomedical/Pharmaceutical Research Articles for Publication in Reputable International Journals and Building International Research Networks,” this guest lecture featured a world-renowned expert, Prof. Nima Rezaei, MD, PhD. He is a Professor of Clinical Immunology, Head of the Immunodeficiency Research Center, and Associate Dean for Research at the School of Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), as well as the Founder of the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN). The discussion during this guest lecture was moderated by Dr. rer. nat. Raisatun Nisa Sugiyanto, M.Sc.
This event was attended by lecturers and graduate students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM to address various challenges in conducting high-quality systematic reviews and writing publishable papers. Through this guest lecture, participants were equipped with practical insights, including an in-depth understanding of systematic review methodology and scientific writing, practical strategies for publishing pharmaceutical and biomedical research in reputable international journals, best practices for increasing the acceptance rate of papers in high-impact journals (i.e., Q1 or Q2), and an introduction to various opportunities for international research collaboration and networking.
Prof. Nima Rezaei’s visit was not limited to a knowledge-sharing session but also served as a platform to initiate the strengthening of institutional collaboration between the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, TUMS, and USERN. This was realized through a follow-up discussion session between Prof. Nima Rezaei, the Associate Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, and a select group of faculty members to explore future joint research projects, joint publications, and academic exchange programs.
The organization of this guest lecture is a concrete step taken by the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative to improve scientific literacy and strategies for writing scientific articles contributes significantly to SDG 4 on Quality Education by ensuring that academics and graduate students possess academic competitiveness at the global level. Furthermore, the exploration of strategic research collaboration networks with Tehran University of Medical Sciences and USERN is a tangible manifestation of SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. Through this cross-national collaboration, it is hoped that a sustainable research ecosystem will be created to produce innovative findings in the biomedical and pharmaceutical fields to address various global health challenges.
