Yogyakarta, September 22, 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) distributed clean water to the community of Kedungpoh Lor, Nglipar Subdistrict, Gunungkidul Regency. This distribution is part of a consistent and ongoing community service program, as well as a step toward helping to address the issue of limited access to clean water in the Gunungkidul region.
Through donations collected from the academic community of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, the funds raised were used to support the procurement, transportation, and distribution of clean water to communities in the target areas. The handover and distribution of aid in the field were carried out directly by Prof. Dr.rer.nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., as the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs. The event was also attended by Dr. Djoko Santosa, M.Si., and Dr. apt. Sekar Ayu Pawestri. The participation of faculty representatives reflects the institution’s commitment to ensuring the smooth distribution of clean water, particularly to communities most severely affected by the clean water crisis.
This community service activity represents a concrete implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and serves as an active contribution by the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation. Meeting the need for clean water also supports SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being, as clean water is key to preventing disease and improving public health.
The UGM Faculty of Pharmacy hopes this assistance will ease the burden on residents of Kedungpoh Lor, Nglipar Subdistrict, Gunungkidul Regency, as they go about their daily lives. This hope extends not only to meeting the need for clean water but also to fostering a healthier, more comfortable, and more prosperous environment. Through this initiative, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy continues to strengthen its social contributions and nurture a spirit of collaboration for the sustainable benefit of the community.
