UGM Pharmacy Student Wins Second Place at 2025 Radiology Competition with Telemedicine-Based Digital Pharmacy Innovation

Yogyakarta, July 6, 2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), on the national stage. Moh. Basofi Muzaky, an undergraduate student in Pharmacy, secured Second Place in the Radiology Competition (RADCOM) 2025, hosted by the Student Association of the D4 Medical Imaging Radiology Technology Program at Universitas Airlangga.

This year’s RADCOM carried the theme “Radiology in the Age of AI: Optimizing Digital Transformation for More Efficient Services.” Basofi competed in the student essay category and advanced to the finals alongside four other participants from various universities. The final round, held onsite at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya, featured presentations of innovative ideas before a panel of judges.

In his presentation, Basofi introduced a concept for transforming pharmacies into fully digital platforms integrated with telemedicine services. This innovation aims to improve patient adherence to medication through education and real-time monitoring. The proposal addresses a pressing challenge in the pharmaceutical field—low patient compliance, which often leads to complications and treatment failures. His well-structured delivery and strong arguments earned high praise from the judges, securing him the second-place award.

Basofi’s work also aligns with the global commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His telemedicine-integrated digital pharmacy concept directly supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by introducing technological solutions for advancing healthcare services. It also contributes to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting equitable access to healthcare, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by encouraging appropriate medication use and reducing waste.
