UGM Pharmacy Student Secures 2nd Place at the PHARASOED X 2025 Patient Counseling Competition

Yogyakarta, January 3, 2026 — A student from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has once again achieved outstanding success in the Patient Counseling Competition (PCC) at the PHARASOED X event organized by Jenderal Soedirman University. Riska Yulia Wardani won second place in this national competition. This achievement was further complemented by the success of Indira Aulia Rahma, also a UGM Pharmacy student, who won 3rd place in the same category.

Under the theme “Aspirin: Advancing Pharmacy through Reform and Insight,” this competition strongly supports the achievement of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening the role of pharmacists in medication counseling. With strong communication and educational skills, future pharmacists play a crucial role in improving patient adherence and preventing medication errors. Additionally, students’ active participation in this event represents an implementation of SDG 4 (Quality Education), which promotes the development of practical professional skills beyond the classroom curriculum.

This competition series, which was participated in by hundreds of pharmacy students from across Indonesia, took place in two stages. The preliminary round was held online in October 2025, while the final round was held in person at the Integrated Health Sciences Building (IHSB) of Jenderal Soedirman University on November 8, 2025. The finalists were tested on their ability to provide clinical counseling, particularly regarding the management of respiratory diseases, before a panel of expert judges.

It is hoped that this achievement will motivate other UGM Pharmacy students to continue developing their potential. By strengthening their counseling skills, it is hoped that UGM Pharmacy graduates will be able to make a significant contribution to educating the public and continuously improving national health standards.
