UGM Master of Pharmacy Management Program Implements Seven Community Service Programs in Giritirto Village

Yogyakarta, Januari 1, 2026 – As part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, lecturers and students of the Master of Pharmacy Management Study Program carried out seven series of community service activities at SD Negeri Giritirto and Giritirto Village, Purwosari District, Gunungkidul Regency. These activities involved teachers, elementary school students, families, and the community, with a focus on improving health literacy, safety, and rational use of medications. 

The community service includes several programs, including SIGAP (Teacher Preparedness for First Aid), which equips teachers with first aid skills and provides school first aid kits; VIRAL (Vitamins and Minerals) to improve the nutritional understanding of fourth-grade students; PHBS (Clean and Healthy Lifestyle) education for third-grade students; and the PIZZA (Smart Students Without Drugs) program is implemented to instill anti-drug awareness in sixth-grade students through socialization and educational games, and the ACID (Innovative Young Pharmacists Learning) program based on the DAGUSIBU (Obtain, Use, Store, and Dispose) principle. All activities in the school environment aim to instill healthy living habits and increase preparedness from an early age.

In addition to schools, community service is also aimed at families and communities through the SMART Obat (Smart Medicine) program, which emphasizes the importance of safe and rational medicine management, while the BESTIE (Bebas Stunting, Indonesia Energik or Stunting-Free, Energetic Indonesia) program focuses on balanced nutrition education, the first 1,000 days of life, and the prevention of stunting in the community.

Overall, these seven community service activities received positive responses and active participation from participants and had a real impact on improving health knowledge and behavior. This series of activities contributed to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  point 2 (Zero Hunger), point 3 (Good Health and Well-being), point 4 (Quality Education), and point 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and are expected to create a healthy, safe, and sustainable school and community environment.
