UGM Faculty of Pharmacy Research Open House Serves as a Platform for Postgraduate Students to Engage in Innovative Pharmaceutical Research

Yogyakarta, October 10, 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized the Faculty Research Open House Presentation at the Workshop Room, Unit IX, 3rd Floor of the UGM Postgraduate Building. The event was attended by postgraduate students from the 2025 cohort, along with faculty researchers from three study programs: Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (DIF), Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIF), and Master of Pharmaceutical Management (MMF).

This event served as a platform for postgraduate students to gain exposure to the latest developments in pharmaceutical research and to foster collaboration with faculty members. A variety of cutting-edge research topics were presented, including Reverse Vaccinology against Cancer and Infectious Disease by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Adam Hermawan, M.Sc., and Local Wisdom-based Drug Development by Prof. apt. Agung Endro Nugroho, M.Si., Ph.D. Other studies explored the development of Indonesian natural compounds as potential treatments for cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the creation of nutraceuticals derived from local plants such as pegagan (Centella asiatica) and chrysanthemum. In addition, several other lecturers also presented their research topics during the Research Open House program, including, Dr. Sci. apt. Rohmad Yudi Utomo, M.Sc.; apt. Marlyn Dian Laksitorini, Ph.D., M.Sc.; Prof. Dr. apt. T. N. Saifullah S., M.Si.; Dr. apt. Agustina Ari Murti Budi Hastuti, M.Sc.; Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Triana Hertiani, M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Ritmaleni, S.Si.; Dr. apt. Nunung Yuniarti, S.F., M.Si.; Prof. Dr. apt. Abdul Karim Zulkarnain, S.E., M.Si.; drh. Retno Murwanti, M.P., Ph.D.; Dr. apt. Rumiyati, M.Si.; Dr. Artania Adnin Tri Suma, S.Si.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through research that improves community health; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by encouraging innovation in pharmaceutical technology such as in silico modeling and 3D cell culture; and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by cultivating a collaborative academic ecosystem that integrates research-based learning for postgraduate students.

Running from 07.30 to 11.00 a.m., the event concluded with an interactive discussion session between lecturers and students to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and inspire research ideas. Through programs like this, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM continues to strengthen its role as a center of excellence for scientific innovation, nurturing future researchers who are ready to contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical science and public welfare.
