UGM Faculty of Pharmacy Participates in the Yogyakarta Traditional Medicine Health Exhibition at Sonobudoyo Museum

Yogyakarta, 22 November 2025 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, took part in the 2025 Traditional Health Exhibition organized by the Health Office of the Yogyakarta Special Region at the Saraswati Exhibition Hall, Sonobudoyo Museum Complex, on 21–22 November 2025. This participation reflects the Faculty’s commitment to supporting the preservation, development, and modernization of Indonesia’s traditional medicine.

The exhibition, held to commemorate the 61st National Health Day (HKN) under the theme “Healthy Generation, Strong Future,” showcased various potentials, innovations, and traditional health services continuously developing across the region. The event was officially opened by the Head of the DIY Health Office through a jasmine-garland cutting ceremony, symbolizing a renewed dedication to advancing inclusive and beneficial traditional health services for the community.

During the exhibition, the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy presented a range of educational materials on natural product medicines, leading research on traditional medicines, as well as a digital encyclopedia regarding traditional medicine. Dr. Djoko Santosa, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, directly engaged with visitors at the Pharmacy booth, offering explanations on the benefits, safety, and scientific development of traditional medicines. Strong visitor enthusiasm was evident through the many interactive discussions that took place throughout the event.

The faculty’s participation also strengthened its contribution to several of the Sustainable Development Goals. Herbal health education supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by improving community health literacy; the use and conservation of local medicinal plants align with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 15 (Life on Land); while cross-institution collaboration in traditional medicine development promotes stronger partnerships in line with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through this exhibition, the Faculty of Pharmacy aims to ensure that traditional medicine continues to advance sustainably and is grounded in scientific principles.
