Yogyakarta, 6 January 2026 — The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a strategic meeting with PT Selatox Bio Pharma to discuss potential collaborations in research and international human resource development. This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the pharmaceutical research ecosystem and opening prestigious opportunities for UGM students in the global bio-pharmaceutical industry.
The session began with an introduction by the Research and Development (RnD) team of PT Selatox Bio Pharma, highlighting the company’s profile and its focus on bio-pharmaceutical innovations. Selatox emphasized the necessity of integrating laboratory technological advancements with contemporary medical industry needs.
A key highlight of the discussion was the potential collaboration under the Global Talent Program. PT Selatox aims to facilitate 1,000 to 2,000 students to study and work directly at their research centers and corporate facilities in South Korea.
Targeting all Bachelor, Master’s, and Doctoral students, this program offers UGM Pharmacy students the chance to gain international work experience, participate in advanced bio-pharmaceutical research, and understand the dynamics of the medical industry in the global landscape.
Beyond student mobility, both parties explored research collaborations involving international faculty members and researchers. The proposed partnership is expected to cover collaborative studies on the development of biological products and innovative medicines, exchange of technical expertise between UGM Faculty of Pharmacy researchers and Selatox’s RnD team to accelerate the industrialization of academic research, and opportunities for researchers to utilize cutting-edge research infrastructure at Selatox’s research centers in Korea.
This initiative directly contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to international-scale practical learning, and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the development of innovative medical research. Furthermore, this synergy reflects the spirit of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by building cross-sector collaboration between academia and global industry to strengthen health resilience. The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM welcomed this initiative, noting that such a partnership aligns with the university’s vision to produce internationally competitive graduates. This meeting is expected to progress toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the technical implementation of these programs in the near future.
