Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted an Institutional and Academic Visitation to Timor Leste from November 17 to 20, 2024. The delegation, led by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Satibi, M.Si., Apt., included the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. apt. Nanang Munif Yasin, S.Si., M.Pharm., the Vice Dean for Research, Dr. Rer. nat. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., Apt., and the Head of the Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. apt. Adhyatmika, M.Biotech. The delegation visited several institutions, such as Universidade Catolico Timorense (UCT), Universidade Nacional Timor Leste (UNTL), Instituto Nacional Farmasia i Produtu Medico (INFPM), and others.
This visit aimed to strengthen academic and research partnerships between UGM and institutions in Timor Leste. Key objectives included initiating a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), developing student exchange programs, promoting the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) and postgraduate programs of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, and discussing potential joint degree and collaborative research opportunities in pharmacy.
Through the student exchange program, the delegation envisions cross-cultural learning experiences, enhanced knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, and expanded professional networks for students from both sides. Additionally, inter-institutional research collaborations are expected to yield innovative solutions to address challenges in the pharmaceutical sector.
This visit aligns with UGM’s vision to broaden academic networks across Southeast Asia and strengthen its global competitiveness. Follow-up actions include drafting the MoA, developing student exchange schemes, and actively promoting the Faculty of Pharmacy’s flagship programs.
The initiative supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). (Rita/HumasFA)
