UGM Faculty of Pharmacy and BRIN’s Research Center for Vaccines and Drugs Continue Collaboration on Insulin Glargine Formulation Research

Yogyakarta, October 24, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed a visit from the team of the Research Center for Vaccines and Drugs, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), on Friday, October 24, 2025. The visit took place at the APS Laboratory Meeting Room, 6th floor of the APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, starting at 9 a.m. This visit was part of the ongoing coordination for the insulin glargine formulation research, which began in July 2024.

The meeting aimed to discuss the research progress and follow-up testing conducted jointly by BRIN and the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy research team. Representing BRIN were Dr. Dudi Hardianto and Dr. Efrida Martius from the Research Center for Vaccines and Drugs. From UGM, the research team was led by Dr.rer.nat. Ronny Martien, M.Si., accompanied by apt. Laras Novitasari, M.Pharm.Sci., and Umaimatun Nakhil, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci.

During the discussion, Dr. Ronny Martien stated that the UGM research team would continue to provide full support for this collaborative project and that the research had been progressing smoothly without major obstacles. Dr. Efrida Martius, representing BRIN, expressed appreciation and gratitude for the strong and continuous partnership with the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy. She also hoped that this collaboration would accelerate the research outcomes of insulin glargine formulation, contributing to the advancement of national pharmaceutical product development.

This joint research aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, through the development of medicines supporting the control of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting self-reliance in domestic pharmaceutical research and production. Moreover, the synergy between BRIN and the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy also reinforces Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the importance of inter-institutional collaboration in advancing science and improving public health in Indonesia.
