Pharmacy UGM — The PPKS Team (Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling) from the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Animal Science UGM on Friday (25/04). This meeting aimed to study and exchange ideas regarding the implementation of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling (PPKS) program that has been implemented at the faculty level.
During the meeting, various important topics were discussed, including the situation at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM in handling sexual violence cases, the structured, clear, and safe case reporting procedures for victims, and the roles and duties of the PPKS Working Group in collaboration with relevant parties to ensure prompt and effective case handling.
Additionally, communication strategies related to the socialization of the PPKS program to the academic community were also an important focus, ensuring that the program is easily understood and accepted by all members of the campus. Strengthening the role of the Health Promoting University (HPU) in creating a campus environment that supports mental and physical health, and is free from sexual violence, was also discussed. Another key focus was the principles involved in case examination, including a professional approach, psychological support for victims, and the educational institution’s focus on maintaining the safety and well-being of its academic community.
This benchmarking undoubtedly supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), by focusing on the prevention and handling of sexual violence on campus. The program also contributes to SDG 3 (Health and Well-being) through psychological support for victims, as well as supporting SDG 16 in creating a safe, inclusive, and violence-free environment by ensuring fair and human rights-based case handling.
This meeting is also expected to strengthen cooperation between the two faculties and become a strategic step in creating a safer, more comfortable, and violence-free campus. (Rara/HumasFA)
