The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Holds Workshop on Reviewing and Improving Vision, Mission, and Excellence of Study Programs

Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again held a Workshop on reviewing and improving vision, mission, and study program excellence as part of its strategic efforts to improve the quality and competitiveness of its study programs. The event was attended by lecturers and heads of study programs across all levels, including the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program, Pharmacist Professional Study Program, Master’s programs (Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Master of Clinical Pharmacy, and Master of Pharmaceutical Management), as well as the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

This workshop served as a forum for discussion and collective reflection aimed at formulating development strategies for study programs that are adaptive to scientific advancements and societal needs, while also strengthening the position of UGM’s Faculty of Pharmacy in both national and international higher education landscapes.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., emphasized the importance of this workshop in reassessing the study programs to ensure they meet various accreditation standards, as well as its suitability with the advantages of the study program that have been previously planned. “Through previous workshops and FGDs in each study program, we still need to reinforce our focus on Study Program Excellence, which is a key requirement in accreditation. It is hoped that international accreditation can be directly recognized,” he stated.

The workshop featured Prof. Dr. apt. Daryono Hadi Tjahjono as the keynote speaker, who delivered a presentation on Accreditation Using Qualitative Instruments. He highlighted the importance of reflective, data-based narratives that can effectively demonstrate the unique strengths of each study program. “Accreditation is not just about fulfilling indicators, but about how an institution can comprehensively represent its quality through a complete, data-driven story that showcases the program’s uniqueness and its impact on society,” Prof. Daryono explained.

Through this workshop, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM reaffirms its commitment to providing quality education, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education. Enhancing excellence across all study programs is expected to strengthen the overall quality of education, while preparing competitive graduates who are ready to increase economic growth, following SDG Number SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Additionally, strengthening educational quality is expected to drive innovation and high-quality research that supports SDG Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being. By improving academic and research standards, the Faculty of Pharmacy also aims to expand strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, supporting the achievement of SDG Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
