Yogyakarta, 9 December 2025 — As a form of concern and support for students facing emergency situations, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada held an Aid Distribution Event for Students Affected by the Sumatra Disaster on Tuesday (9/12) at the Dean’s Meeting Room, 7th Floor, APSLC Building, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
In this activity, the faculty assisted seven students whose families were directly affected by the disaster in the Sumatra region. The aid was symbolically handed over by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., as a form of moral and material support to help ease the burden on students during the recovery period.
Prior to the distribution, the faculty conducted a follow-up and condition-monitoring session by inviting each student for a direct dialogue. During this session, the faculty leadership asked about their current condition, family situation, and urgent needs that may be required to ensure their safety, continuity of studies, and overall well-being. Through this discussion, the faculty aimed to ensure that every student receives proper support tailored to their individual circumstances.
This activity represents the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s concrete commitment to fostering an academic environment that is caring, responsive, and oriented toward student welfare. Beyond an emergency relief effort, the provided assistance is also expected to offer a sense of security, comfort, and encouragement so that students can continue their academic activities despite difficult circumstances.
The initiative also reflects the faculty’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This aid program aligns with SDG 1 (No Poverty) by supporting students whose families face economic vulnerability due to the disaster; SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by paying attention to students’ physical and emotional health; SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring that students can continue their studies without financial barriers; and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through efforts to provide equal support to all students without discrimination.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM continues to reinforce its role and commitment as an institution that not only supports academic achievement but also remains present in situations requiring social and humanitarian attention.
