Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada Support SDG 3 with Free Health Checks at Equal Run 2025

Yogyakarta, February 16, 2025 – Students from the Professional Pharmacist Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) contributed to community service by providing free health screening services at the Equal Run 2025 event. This activity aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of health and early disease detection.

Equal Run 2025, held at UGM’s Graha Sabha Pramana Field on February 16, 2025, in order to commemorate the 13th Anniversary of RSA UGM, was an inclusive healthy run event that attracted over 1,200 participants from diverse backgrounds. Besides promoting healthy lifestyles through exercise, the event also offered free health services as a demonstration of concern for public health. UGM pharmacy professional students conducted blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI) checks for participants. They also provided consultations and education on the importance of healthy lifestyles, balanced diets, and regular health check-ups, empowering the community to be more proactive in maintaining their health and preventing diseases early. These services were provided free of charge, ensuring equitable and inclusive access to health for all participants, regardless of social status or physical condition.

This innovative program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The free health screenings and education initiatives directly contribute to SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being by promoting early disease detection, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and increasing access to preventive health services. The active involvement of students in disseminating health knowledge to the community also supports SDG 4, Quality Education, while providing valuable practical learning experiences for them. Furthermore, the Equal Run 2025 event, a collaborative effort to promote public health, reflects a commitment to SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating synergy between educational institutions and the community.

Through their active involvement in this activity, UGM Professional Pharmacist students have shown that their role extends beyond merely providing pharmaceutical services; they are also agents of change in health promotion and disease prevention within the community. It is hoped that this initiative can continue and expand, benefiting even more people through community service-based health services.
