Yogyakarta, February 16, 2025 – Students from the Professional Pharmacist Study Program (PSPA) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), actively participated in a community service initiative, offering free health screenings as part of the Equal Run 2025 event. The activity took place at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM, starting at 6:00 AM WIB, and was open to all Equal Run participants and the general public interested in monitoring their health. Driven by a spirit of care, the students, alongside a team of health professionals from RSA UGM (UGM Academic Hospital), provided blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as education on healthy lifestyles.
Equal Run 2025 is a running event organized by RSA UGM in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK UGM) to commemorate RSA UGM’s 13th anniversary. This running event aims to inspire the community to live healthy and active lives without limits, featuring various categories such as 10K, 5K, and a special 3K for Nordic walkers, people with disabilities, and families. Collaboration with running communities, disability clubs, and Nordic walking groups emphasizes the spirit of “health without limits” and togetherness in exercise. During the event, UGM PSPA students provided services including blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, and uric acid checks, along with body composition analysis using Karada Scan. Students also played a crucial role in interpreting Karada Scan results and offering recommendations for diet and exercise to help participants meet optimal health parameters.
This activity is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The provision of free health screening services and health education directly contributes to SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being, by promoting early disease detection, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and increasing access to preventive health services for all segments of society, including people with disabilities and families. The active involvement of UGM PSPA students in applying pharmaceutical knowledge and promoting health within the community also affirms a commitment to SDG 4, Quality Education, ensuring relevant learning and practical experience. Furthermore, the collaboration among UGM’s Faculty of Pharmacy, RSA UGM, FKKMK UGM, and various communities in organizing this inclusive event demonstrates a tangible implementation of SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening cross-sector synergy for shared health and well-being.
It is hoped that this activity will provide easily accessible and beneficial health services to the community, while also serving as a valuable learning platform for PSPA students in their role as health promotion and socialization agents.
