Strengthening Industry Ties: Faculty of Pharmacy UGM welcomes PT Sunthi Sepuri for Stategic Collaboration

Yogyakarta, December 18, 2025 The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently welcomed a formal delegation from PT Sunthi Sepuri, a prominent pharmaceutical company that focuses on the production of ethical drugs, especially psychotropic drugs. Held at the Leadership Meeting Room 707, APSLC Building, the visit focused on forging a strategic bridge between academia and pharmaceutical industry. 

The delegation was warmly received by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi S.Si., M.Si., alongside the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., and apt. Anna Wahyuni Widayanti, MPH, Ph.D as the Head of Pharmacist Profession Study Program. Representing PT Sunthi Sepuri were senior management members, including Ali Husna, Tjetjep Suryana, Ririen Komalasari, and M. Ismail F.

The discussion centered on for pivotal areas of collaboration, there are streamlining job placements and vacancy publications specifically for UGM Pharmacy graduates, utilizing the UGM Alumni Office’s services to identify and scout top-tier candidates, building a long-term partnership to meet the industry’s growing demand for highly skilled pharmaceutical professionals, exploring joint ventures in the R&D of innovative medicines and supplements aimed at improving public health outcomes.

Prof. Satibi emphasized that this initiative is a concrete step forward narrowing the gap between theoretical education and industrial practice. By aligning the faculty’s academic rigor with PT Sunthi Sepuri’s industrial expertise, the partnership aims to provide students and alumni with broader career pathways and real-world impact. This collaboration also reflects the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the development of innovative health products, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering a strong synergy between academia and the industrial sector. 

The meeting concluded with a technical session to finalize cooperation procedures, followed by a commemorative photo session to mark the beginning of what both parties hope will be long-lasting and productive synergy. (Sekar/HumasFA)
