Strengthening Collaboration and Commitment to Maintaining Scientific Heritage and Institutional Wisdom, Retired Pharmacy UGM Lecturers Hold Reunion

Yogyakarta, June 17, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) today hosted a special reunion for its retired lecturers, honoring their profound dedication and contributions as foundational pillars of the faculty’s advancement. Held at the Cafe Jamu AcarakiGAMA within the faculty’s APSLC Building, the event brought together esteemed senior academics and the current generation in a warm and collaborative atmosphere.

More than just a nostalgic gathering, the event also underscored the institution’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By actively involving its senior members, the Faculty of Pharmacy embodied the spirit of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The forum served as a direct application of SDG target 16, which aims to ensure responsive and inclusive decision-making. The wisdom and experience of the senior academics are considered invaluable strategic input for the faculty’s future policies and direction.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Satibi, M.Si., Apt., stated in his remarks, “Our retired professors are an inseparable part of this institution’s history and soul. Through this event, we not only want to express our gratitude but also ensure their voices and wisdom continue to be heard. This is a tangible manifestation of a strong, inclusive, and sustainable institution.”

One of the honored guests, retired professor Prof. Dr. Sismindari, S.U., Apt., shared her impressions. “The faculty is so much better now; the atmosphere is more cheerful, and the academic life is more vibrant. The students are also more active and continuously developing,” she said.

She also advised that this progress must be balanced with strong values. “My advice is to never lose sight of ethics, whether in research or social interactions within the academic community, among peers, lecturers, and all staff,” she emphasized.

Prof. Sismindari concluded with her hopes for the future: “I hope the Faculty of Pharmacy will continue to strengthen its roots and reach new heights, both nationally and internationally, and that its entire community always works with sincerity and diligence.”

The UGM Faculty of Pharmacy is committed to making this gathering a regular event to continually nurture this intergenerational partnership, strengthen its institutional foundations, and ensure that every step forward is grounded in the wisdom of its predecessors.
