Rwandan Embassy Conducts a Visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM

Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM received a friendly visit from the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Indonesia. The visit was attended by the Rwandan Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Sheikh Abdul Karim Harelimana, on Wednesday (09/04) at the faculty of Pharmacy UGM campus. This visit was intended as a gesture of appreciation for UGM’s academic support towards Rwanda scholars.

The visit also aimed to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Rwanda, particularly in the fields of education, research, and the development of the health sector. One of the main focuses of the meeting was to discuss potential cooperation in higher education, including plans for visiting lectures by the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM professors at universities in Rwanda. This program is expected to enrich the knowledge and insights in the field of pharmacy for students, academics, and researchers in Rwanda.

In addition, both parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in postgraduate programs for Rwandan citizens. The Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM offers opportunities for Rwandan students to continue their studies in master’s and doctoral programs, with a focus on drug research and development as well as health technology.

After the discussion, the visit continued with a tour of various facilities at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The Rwandan delegation had the opportunity to see firsthand the research laboratories, classes, and research facilities that support the development of knowledge in the field of pharmacy. This tour provided a clearer picture of the quality of education and research at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.

This visit marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between the two countries through education and research in the pharmaceutical field, as well as opening up broader opportunities for cooperation in the future. Both parties hope to soon realize the initiatives discussed, to support the advancement of knowledge and technology that will benefit the wider community.

This visit aligns with the Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). Through this international collaboration, Pharmacy UGM aims to expand access to pharmaceutical education and health research, create a positive impact on global well-being, and promote sustainable progress in health and education.
