PSPA Faculty of Pharmacy UGM Enhances Students’ Competence on Pharmaceutical Regulatory and Professional Career Success

Yogyakarta, May 17, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Professional Pharmacist Program (PSPA), hosted a soft skills training session titled “Pharmaceutical Regulations and the Path to Professional Success” for pharmacy professional students of the February 2025 intake. Held at the 8th floor APSLC Auditorium, the event brought together professionals from leading pharmaceutical companies to share their expertise.

The first session featured apt. Desti Wibowo, S.Farm., M.H., Head of Regulatory Affairs at PT Merck Indonesia, who highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists in navigating pharmaceutical global regulatory changes and emphasized the importance of building professional competence in a highly competitive industry.

The second speaker, apt. Upien Amrullah Prasetyo S., S.Farm., M.Biotek, RA, Associate Manager at Dexa Group, provided valuable insights into the pharmaceutical product registration process based on regulations and law, as well as shared experiences in managing regulatory challenges both nationally and internationally.

The event aimed to broaden students’ understanding of diverse career pathways in regulatory affairs and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the workforce as competent and adaptable registered pharmacists.

Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm, reflecting an increasing awareness of the importance of mastering pharmaceutical regulations as a key component of modern pharmacy practice. The initiative also served to strengthen academic-industry collaboration in preparing pharmacy graduates for global challenges.

This activity aligns with the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM’s commitment to supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 8, and 17, namely Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Partnership for the Goals, by fostering professional competency and job readiness among future pharmacists.
