Faculty of Pharmacy UGM student contingents which made up the 31 teams of UGM earn achievements in the 30th national student science competition (PIMNAS 2017) held by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education in Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makasar, Sulawesi Selatan. Faculty of Pharmacy UGM directed two teams to attend the competition of student creativity programme for exacta science (PKM-PE). The team consisting of Aida Fathia, Ziana Walidah, Swandika Ayumarta, Lisyaratih Anggraini, and Rahajeng Fitria Wahyuniputri presented their research entitled “A New Insight for A Chemoprevention Agent : Developing Temu Kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata) as Anticancer for Targeted Metabolism of Glutathione S-transferase” under supervision of Muthi’ Ikawati, M.Sc., Apt.
The team succeeded achieving gold medals for oral presentation category and bronze medal for poster presentation category. According to Aida, one of the team members, “this success cannot be attained without seriousness, team-working, and supports from our lecturers.” This achievement also contributed to Universitas Gadjah Mada record which has been the winner in PIMNAS for five times in the past twelve years, and the last one was in 2014. Meanwhile, in the past three years from 2015 to 2017, UGM has been the runner-up. “Congratulations and success for the winners, hopefully next year Faculty of Pharmacy could achieve more in PIMNAS 2018,” said Dr.rer.nat. Triana Hertiani, M.Si., Apt., the Vice Dean for Academics and Student Affairs of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
