Yogyakarta, May 26, 2025 — Another proud achievement has been attained by a student from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Nur Aini Salma Lathifah, a 2023 undergraduate student of the Pharmacy UGM, successfully won Second Place in the Patient Counseling Competition (PCC), which is part of the 2025 National Avicena Competition (NAC). This competition was held online by the Pharmacy Student Association of Udayana University on May 10, 17, and 24, 2025.
The 2025 PCC NAC is a prestigious event aimed at Diploma (D3), Applied Bachelor (D4), and Undergraduate (S1) Pharmacy students from various universities across Indonesia. The competition tests participants’ abilities to provide professional and communicative patient counseling services, in line with the pharmacist’s role in pharmaceutical practice.
PCC NAC 2025 consisted of two main stages: the preliminary round and the final round. In the preliminary round, participants answered questions online via Google Forms under strict supervision using a double-device system through Zoom Meetings. The top ten participants from this stage advanced to the finals, where they were asked to perform patient counseling simulations based on case studies prepared by the committee. The judging was conducted directly by professional experts in the field.
Nur Aini’s achievement in securing second place is a remarkable accomplishment, reflecting the quality and competence of Pharmacy UGM students. This achievement also demonstrates Pharmacy UGM’s real contribution to improving the quality of human resources in the pharmaceutical field.
“This achievement is expected to further strengthen Universitas Gadjah Mada’s presence, particularly the Faculty of Pharmacy, on both national and international stages through active and excellent participation in various scientific and professional competitions,” stated a faculty representative.
This achievement also supports the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through enhanced professional competence in healthcare, quality higher education, and inter-institutional collaboration.
The Faculty of Pharmacy UGM continuously supports students to participate in both academic and non-academic activities that can develop their potential and competitiveness in the professional world. May this success inspire other students to continue striving for excellence.
