Yogyakarta, May 7, 2025 — Another proud achievement has been made by a student of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Yustisia Nur Rafidha Hestomo Putri, an undergraduate student of the Pharmacy Study Program, class of 2023, successfully won 1st place in the EDELWEIS 2025 Scientific Essay Competition organized by the Undergraduate Pharmacy Student Association of the National School of Health Sciences (STIKES Nasional).
EDELWEIS 2025 is an annual national-scale competition carrying the theme “Energetic in Doing Innovation and Creativity for Pharmaceutical National Competition with HIMFARNAS.” The competition is open to high school/vocational school students and university students from across Indonesia, featuring two main categories: poster and scientific essay.
Registration and submission of works were open from March 20 to April 30, 2025. After being reviewed by a panel of judges from May 1-5, 2025, the winners were announced online on May 6, 2025, through the official Instagram account @himfarnas_stikesnas.
In the scientific essay category, the topic was “Anemia in Teenagers: Impact and Prevention Strategies.” In her essay, Yustisia proposed an innovative product aimed at preventing anemia in adolescents while also raising awareness about the importance of early prevention. Her idea successfully led her to the top spot in the judges’ assessment.
This achievement is expected to be not only a personal milestone for Yustisia but also bring pride to UGM’s Faculty of Pharmacy at the national level. Yustisia’s spirit of innovation and competitiveness is hoped to inspire other students to continue creating and bringing honor to their alma mater.
Yustisia’s innovation in preventing anemia in teenagers supports several SDGs, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by promoting better health, education, and inclusive access to health information for adolescents in Indonesia.
