Pharmacy UGM – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has taken a significant step towards enhancing its academic standards by conducting a benchmarking visit to the National University of Singapore (NUS). Representing UGM were Prof. Dr. apt. Satibi, M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. rer.nat. apt. Nanang Fakhrudin, M.Si., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs. The UGM delegation was warmly welcomed by their counterparts at NUS’s Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, led by Prof. Giorgia Pastorin, Head of the Department, and Assoc Prof. Gigi Chiu, Assistant Head (Education – Postgraduate Matters).
The visit explored the curriculum structure and strategies the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences adopted at NUS. By examining its approach to pharmaceutical education, UGM seeks to gain valuable insights that could be integrated into the curriculum to further strengthen its position in the global academic community. The discussions also included strategies to boost research impact and elevate UGM’s quality in line with the standards of world-leading universities.
This institutional visit also paves the way for collaborative opportunities between UGM and NUS, including potential joint research projects and guest lecture programs. Such collaborations aim to leverage the expertise of both institutions to drive innovations in pharmaceutical education and research.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By fostering a knowledge-sharing platform and establishing strategic partnerships, UGM and NUS are committed to enhancing educational quality, promoting research excellence, and contributing to the global advancement of pharmaceutical sciences.
