Pharmacy UGM Dr. apt. Agustina Ari Murti Budi Hastuti, M.Sc., a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has been selected as a grant recipient in the Hubert Curien (PHC) Nusantara 2025 Parthenariat Program. The announcement was officially made on April 8, 2025, via the Institut Français d’Indonésie.

Out of 43 research proposals submitted, only ten were chosen to receive funding under this prestigious bilateral research program. Dr. Hastuti’s project, “Indonesian Ginger and Ginger Essential Oil Authentication Study,” was selected under the chemistry category and will be conducted in collaboration with Illa Tea, a French project leader. The research will be hosted at the Institut des Sciences Analytiques (ISA) in Villeurbanne, France.

The PHC Nusantara program is a collaborative initiative between the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (KEMDIKTISAINTEK) and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), alongside the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR). It aims to strengthen research partnerships between Indonesia and France by supporting high-impact, innovative projects in priority fields.

This collaboration presents a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, technology, and expertise between the two nations. Dr. Hastuti’s research is expected to contribute significantly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3, Good Health and Well-being, by advancing the understanding and application of ginger in the health sector. It also reinforces Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in scientific innovation.

With this achievement, the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM further solidifies its presence on the global research stage and affirms its commitment to contributing to international scientific advancement. (Rizqi Vazrin/HumasFA)
